NRA Basics of Personal Protection OUTSIDE The Home (PPOTH)

“This course is designed to help develop the student’s knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective use of a concealed handgun for self-defense outside the home.” 

In addition to shooting skills, the course also addresses responsible and ethical considerations in carrying a concealed firearm and emphasizes the need for ongoing practice and proficiency training. Students also learn the various legal aspects of concealed carry and how to interact with law enforcement when armed.

Objectives:

1. To impart knowledge on advanced handgun handling and shooting techniques for self-defense outside the home.

2. Train individuals on proper concealment techniques, use of cover, and movement.

3. To develop skills in low-light shooting, one-handed shooting, and engaging multiple targets.

4. To instill an understanding of ethical considerations, legal aspects of concealed carry, and best practices when interacting with law enforcement.

The course structure includes theoretical instruction and practical training involving shooting drills that simulate real-life scenarios. 

NRA Certified Instructors conduct the training using a mix of lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises. 

By the end of the course, participants should be confident and proficient in handling and using their concealed carry handgun for self-defense, conscious of the associated legalities and responsibilities, and equipped with the skills and mindset needed to protect themselves in dangerous situations outside their homes.

Completing the NRA Basics of Personal Protection INSIDE The Home Course (PPITH) 

is a prerequisite for enrollment in this course.
