Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at alex@alextactical.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  1. This happens because most people have poor support on the weak side of their gun, or they’re not really isolating their trigger press.
  2. Involuntary movement of the gun at the anticipated instant of discharge, which pushes the gun forward to counteract the recoil. This results in hits placed low or below the target.
  3.  A strong grip on your pistol can minimize the wobble of the sights. A strong grip also reduces the amount of movement that happens when you pull the trigger sharply. Dry fire practice is probably the best thing you can do to get over shooting low and left.
  4.  The leading cause of shooting low and to the left is recoil anticipation. Recoil anticipation results in a flinching motion, which in turn drives your shots low and sometimes to the left.
  5. The solution for this is to make sure the body is squared off to the target and both arms are fully extended and engaged. This is true for both hands if the support hand is low on the gun, it can also create an unsupported platform.
  6. The shooter has not only the physical drag he might get from having a bent elbow, but he also may have a straight arm but doesn’t have the shoulder fully engaged. Ensuring there is extra extension and extra engagement of the weak-side shoulder is one way to take a rapid-fire group that’s sinking low left and push it back up.
  7.  is related to trigger control: a sympathetic compression of the strong-side fingertips of the hand when the trigger is pressed. This twists the gun as the shot breaks.

The number one rule of gun safety is to always treat every firearm as if it’s loaded, and never assume it’s unloaded without checking it yourself. Using a visible reminder that a gun is empty can be reassuring to others, and let you know, at a glance, that your chamber is empty…chamber flags serve this purpose.

Suppose you are a Concealed Carry Weapon License/Permit (CCW) holder. In that case, there are no limitations on carrying your handgun in a private vehicle as long as it is concealed, meaning that no gun component is visible to the naked eye. See the LAW Chapter  790.25

 ****NOTE****

FLORIDA DOES NOT HAVE A THREE-STEP LAW TO ACCESS YOUR FIREARM IN A CAR.

Requirements for carrying a loaded gun in your car:  See the LAW Chapter  790.25

  • You must be 18 years old or older. This statute does not protect anyone under the age of 18 years old at the time of the offense.
  • You must have a viable reason to own a gun. You must have the gun in your car for self-defense or other lawful purposes, such as driving to and from an outing that involves lawful hunting or marksmanship practice.
  • The gun cannot be on your person. The statute specifies that the gun must be “within the interior of a private conveyance” (in other words, inside of your vehicle) and does not protect you if the gun is on your person.
  • The gun must be securely encased or otherwise not readily accessible. You must keep your gun secured and ensure it cannot be grabbed easily by any passengers. This may involve having it snapped into a holster, stored in a glove compartment, or put in a gun case with a cover (locked or unlocked). No matter where it is, ensure the weapon is not “readily accessible for immediate use” and is well out of your immediate reach.
